Description:

Villa Bonita is a spacious, light and airy modern but character-full house set just back from the sea in a little village called Kuciste, on the Peljesac Peninsula. It is a great villa for a family holiday and very comfortable with all mod-cons. With easy access to the sea, it is no problem to nip down for a swim (the sea is 80 metres away!) and get back for a spot of chilling out in the garden! With fantastic views out across the sea to the nearby Island of Korcula, it is a lovely base for a week or two in the sun. There's plenty to do in the area and hiring a car would allow you to really explore the other villages in the area, but Kuciste has a little shop and some lovely restaurants so there isn't really any need to move...

It's approximately 2 hours drive door to door from Dubrovnik airport along a beautiful coastal road and about an hour and a half from the old town of Dubrovnik itself. The villa was built approx 25 years ago and recently underwent a complete exterior facelift with new windows, shutters and façade. All rooms except kitchen and bathroom have parquet flooring. The villa is surrounded by a lovely paved terrace on the west and south (sea) side. The west side is shaded by grape vines and there is an umbrella for additional cover. A large table and benches can accommodate up to 10 people. There is also a large garden area with mature plants and with large areas covered in local beach pebbles! There is a wooden play frame/swing set for children and the garden has an outside shower which is completely enclosed.

Kuciste is only 5 minutes from the main, but small, town of the area - 'Orebic'. Here you can shop and catch the car/passenger ferry across to the island of Korcula and beyond (you can see the islands of Hvar and Korcula from Loviste). The ferry to Korcula only takes about 15 minutes and it is well worth a trip - Korcula old town is often described as a mini-Dubrovnik and is very pretty with lots of little winding streets to meander up and down and small, quirky cafes. Orebic itself has a beautiful seafront, being the place where rich merchants chose to build their impressive houses. It's a lovely stroll along the sea edge next to these beautiful houses to the towns' long, sandy and popular beach.

The windsurfing village of Viganj is also just minutes away from Kuciste (the Croatian windsurfing Championships are held here every July). Here you can easily hire all water sports equipment and get lessons (Windsurf hire is approx. £6 for as long as you can keep going!). Kite-surfing has also taken off here in a big way - if you aren't into trying any of the water sports, a good alternative is just to sunbathe by the water and watch all the action!

Kuciste has a long seafaring tradition and the village has quite a few sea captains houses. They are very opulent houses and were built in the late 18th/early 19th centuries in the style of Dubrovnik summer mansions. Kuciste is a stunning village with lots of little quays along the sea edge where the locals moor fishing boats or quite often sunbathe! There are a few restaurants and café/bars to relax in if the sun and sea get too much.
