Description:

Rijeka is the biggest port in Croatia and the capital of Kvarner region. 51% of the population of the Kvarner region live in Rijeka. The city has swapped rulers many times in its history, and until 1945 was part of Italy.

Ferries leave from Rijeka to sail along the coast down to Dubrovnik.

Events: International Rijeka Carnival one of the biggest in Europe. June -July: Summer on Gradina - a series of concerts.
