Description:
Slano (meaning salted) is a village located approximately 27 km northwest of Dubrovnik. The area has been populated since prehistoric times and is rich in remains from many different historical periods.The village was under the rule of Republic of Ragusa from 1399.
There are 2 smaller harbours for yachts and smaller boats in Slanos naturally protected bay Banja. Two recently renovated hotels (''Osmine'' and ''Admiral'') are the main base for local development.
To Visit: famed 'Vjetrenica' karst cave, The Franciscan Church of St. Jerome(15th century), Rector's Palace from the times of the Dubrovnik Republic and the summer residence of the well known Ohmucevic family, whose members were skilled sailors and writers.
