Description:
Porec town is a bustling tourist resort in Istria, protected from the sea by Sveti Nikola island (sandy beach). Porec boasts a large number of hotels, apartments and campsites. The main resorts in Porec are Brulo (hotel resort in pine forst), Playa Laguna (spread over two peninsulas, in pine forests near good beaches) , and Zelena Laguna as well as Pical and Spadici. There are plenty of activities to keep one busy including: Tennis courts, gyms, water sports, sailing, diving, horse riding and much more. Throughout the summer a number of events are organised, including classical concerts, jazz evenings and folk festivals.
Visit: Euphrasian Basilica, a UNESCO World Heritage Site (Roman public hall built between 543 and 554 bu Bishop Euphrasius), famed for its Byzantine mosaics. The Bishop's Palace next to the Basilica has been turned into a museum displaying other mosaics.
Remains of two roman temples: Temple of Mars and Neptune's temples, situated in the old part of town, Marafor.
