Description:
Bakar (meaning Copper in Croatia) is a town and port in Bakar Bay in the gulf of Kvarner, 12km south east of Rijeka. Its beach is surrounded by pine forsts. Bakar used to be the centre of "Tunny-Fishing" in the Northern Adriatic, Tunny fishing involves fish being channelled by use of nets into areas where they are killed. It is also famous for its sparkling white wine "Bakarska vodica". Bakar is also within easy reach of the winter ski resorts of Platak, Delnice, Mrkopalj, and Bjelolasica.
