New ambitious project in Croatia: The Split House of Health - Senior citizens home and polyclinic

The senior citizens home and polyclinic is a project of SEM company, which is building the first health and tourism centre in Dalmatia and Croatia. It is noteworthy because of the new original business model, but also because of the quality of architectural design by using solar panels. This is the first such centre in Croatia, with investment of about 15 million euros.

The inspiration for this project are similar projects in Florida and Italy, Spain and Portugal.

Health tourism is a fast growing branch and, in the forthcoming accession to the European Union, it opens up new possibilities for the development of this specific form of tourism in Croatia. The general trend of retirees from the northern parts of the continent is to stay in the Mediterranean as long as possible, especially in winter.

Construction of the facility began in October 2010., with completion planned in the second half of this year. The Split House of Health d.o.o. is in the ownership of SEM 1986 dd and the facility unifies several functions.

Luxury accommodations includes services of polyclinics and diagnostic and specialized centres. Within the centre, there will be a restaurant, internet corner, a piano and lounge bar, cinemas, libraries, a green oasis with a promenade on the roof, an outdoor swimming pool with sundeck and wellness and fitness centre.

The residence includes 54 accommodation units, 40 rooms and 14 suites, which can be rented at the range from five days to 99 years.

Capacity of residences for seniors is up to 100 people. Monthly rent ranges from 1200 to 2000 euros (from 40 euros per day). Price depends on the unit and contracted services, including service of accommodation with breakfast, lunch and dinner prepared in consultation with a nutritionist.

Compared with similar centers in Italy and Austria, the prices are competitive, because, for example, in these two countries, the price of 2 000 euros is lower limit.

The specificity of the building with three underground and seven above-ground floors is completely open attractive vista from the top of Gripe to all four sides of Split and the entire Split archipelago.

The Split House of Health is the brand new model and a different way of life for people of the third age. They will spend time in ideal climatic and accommodation conditions, in a totally relaxed and fun way in the company of their peers, and what is particularly important, their health will be under constant supervision of medical staff.
