Description:
His search for 'Grk' began after he found a bottle of this rare wine, for which he had never heard, in a London basement bar called "The Phoenix Club" .
The search for this wine led him to Korcula, a place which was visited by the wealthiest people in the world, and which is only one flight (at a reasonable price) away from the British. And before he became aware, he joined the trend called 'tipple tourism '.
Delighted with the beauty and history of the island, the journalist describes Korcula as a blend of Venice, Greece, France and Croatia and is surprised by the fact that this historic gem, the birthplace of Marco Polo, was left intact by mass tourism. He was also thrilled with the beautiful vineyards surrounded by olive trees and pine forests, and because of all that beauty, he said it was no wonder that Bill Gates comes to Korcula with his friends.
Besides natural beauty and historical sites on the island, the reporter was delighted with cuisine and he especially recommends shackles stew and skarpina (red fish). In the end, he said he hoped that Croatian wines will become more accessible to the rest of Europe, after the entry into the European Union. However, for full enjoyment of such wine, he recommends going to the island of Korcula, to gain a full impression.
Korcula island on the Guardian's Top 5 list!
