Description:

Fodor's Travel ranked Istria, Croatia among the most interesting destinations in 2012

American portal, Fodor's Travel Guide, which has 1.5 million monthly visitors, puts Istria among the most interesting tourist destinations in 2012.

Fodorsovo recognition shows that Istria has continued to create a strong positive impression on relevant writers and opinion formers and was able to capitalize its promotional potential.

'This recommendation builds on similar awards received in the past period from other relevant publishers and associations - two from ADAC and the National Geographic Traveler, and one from the U.S. magazine Travel and Leisure', stated Denis Ivosevic, director of the Tourist Board of Istria County. Recently, American Shermanstravel.com recognized Istria as one of the top ten emerging wine regions

Under the title Go List 2012 Fodor's recommends 21 destination - cities, countries and regions that are popular this year, either as places of interesting events, rich and unusual content and landscapes or affordable prices.

Istria is found in subcategory 'Emerging Hotspots' along with Wales, Cuba, Colombia, Rwanda, South Korea and Panama.

Fodor’s describes Istria as Tuscany without the crowds or the high price tag, adding that the region is known for its medieval hilltop towns such as Rovinj and Motovun, miles of vineyards and restaurants famous for their truffle-filled menus.

Moreover, the editorial concludes that the best truffles in the world do not come from Italy, but from Istria!

Fodor's recommends Kempinski Hotel Adriatic in Savudrija, Family Hotel San Rocco with a gourmet restaurant in Brtonigla and restaurant Zigante in Livade, suggesting the autumn as the best time to visit Istria. The reason are olive and grape harvesting, truffle season and warm weather.
