Description:
The Ministry of Tourism and the Croatian National Tourist Board have undertaken an initiative for organised advertising of tourism. The two agencies have signed agreements with Croatian entrepreneurs and tourist boards for such advertising.
The ministry and the private sector will provide a total of 185 million kunas or 24,790 Euros for joint advertisements in 2009 to promote Croatian tourist destinations and tour operators.
Minister of Tourism Damir Bajs said more than 600 firms were interested in joint advertisements.
The joint advertising campaign will start this week in the European media, including TV, newspapers and websites.
Although the Croatian media have recently written about bad foreign tourist bookings for the upcoming season, Bajs said he did not want to comment about that before March, but he admitted 2009 was going to be a "tough" year.
At the same time, he called on firms in the tourism sector to think twice about their prices.
Bajs said: "I am not in favour of lower prices in the tourism sector, but this is the wrong time for price increases because the market will be very price-sensitive this year. We have to be aware guests will more than ever before compare what they are getting for the price they are paying. "
