Number of tourists in central Dalmatia has risen

Split-Dalmatian county was visited by 22,555 tourists during the first two months of 2009, three per cent more than during the same period of the previous year.
There were 56,617 overnights in the county in that period, 13 per cent more than in the same one in 2008.
There were 1,573 Japanese tourists in the county in the first two months of 2009, 81 per cent more than in the same period in 2008, according to the daily "Vjesnik." The high number was unusual because few Japanese usually visit Croatia in January and February.
Only 452 Slovene tourists visited the county, a decline of 21 per cent that may be attributable to recent political disputes between Croatia and Slovenia.
