The monk seal is back in the Adriatic

A monk seal has been seen again in the Adriatic after having disappeared years ago.
Moris Civitico from Pula has even filmed a more than two-metre-long monk seal close to the northern Adriatic peninsula of Istria, the news website Barkun has reported.
"It was fantastic. A monk seal was posing for me", Civitico said.
There are two theories among Croatian biologists. One group believes monk seals only visit the Adriatic Sea from the Ionian Sea, while another believes there are at least 20 monk seals in the Adriatic Sea.
