London Symphony Orchestra to play in Zagreb

07 April 2009

Description:

The London Symphony Orchestra will perform 11 May at Zagreb's Arena sport and concert hall.
Conducted by Valery Gergijev, the orchestra will play compositions by Russians Sergei Rachmaninoff and Sergei Prokofiev during the Zagreb stop on its Prokofiev World Tour.
The orchestra was founded in 1904 as an independent, self-governing organization, the first such orchestra in the UK. In more than 100 years, it has had many prominent conductors such as André Previn, Claudio Abbado, Sir Colin Davis and Valery Gergijev.
The LSO is also famous for having recorded many film scores down through the years. Those include Braveheart, Harry Potter and Eragon and Superman.
It has also done many pop recordings, including The Beatles' Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, Neil Young's Harvest and songs from the Thriller and Bad albums by Michael Jackson.
