Description:
Croatian minister of tourism, Damir Bajs, presented new measures to save Croatian tourism in the upcoming season following a recession induced downturn in the numbers of visitors to Croatia so far this year. The minister agreed that the upcoming season will be a test for Croatian tourism, currently only 12% of accomodation is booked for the season. After the meeting with the "economic council" of Croatia they have decided that there won't be a decrease in VAT as previously announced from 22% to 10% .
Some of the accepted measures are: no need for a visa for Russian citizents from 1st of May to 31st October (they are also thinking of doing the same for China and India). Besides the sea and sun, guests will also be able to also enjoy free entrance to museums as well as some other little things like reduced rates for parking in main tourist areas. Bajs also announced a new marketing campaign "Croatia as a lifestyle destination" that will be promoted by Croatia's lead sportsmen, celebrities and politicans.
