I love Croatia - I love Dubrovnik project

13 April 2009

Description:

This year, within the ecological-educational project I LOVE CROATIA that has been carried out by the Croatian Tourist Board for many years now, the Dubrovnik Tourist Board continues to organise numerous activities such as tiding up the city, its suburbs and the Elafite Islands under the motto I LOVE CROATIA - I LOVE DUBROVNIK.
For the purpose of Dubrovnik's highest quality preparations for the forthcoming tourist season and in order to enable the most pleasant stay possible for both the residents and guests of the City - in collaboration with the City of Dubrovnik, particularly the Administrative Department for the Economy, the Administrative Department for Regional Planning and Environmental Protection, the Administrative Department for Public Services, the Čistoća Company (municipal sanitation) and the Vrtlar (planting-out) Company - the Dubrovnik Tourist Board has organized numerous activities including the cleaning, planting of seedlings, transportation of bulky discarded objects, cleaning the sea bed, tidying up the beaches and other activities which emphasized educational character of the I Love Croatia project by involving the youngest residents of our City.
On the occasion of the World Water Day, which is marked on 22 March, the cleaning and tidying up the access roads to the old Onofrio water supply in Šumet were organized on 28 March. Under the patronage of the Dubrovnik Administrative Department for Environmental Protection and Regional Planning, the action was organized by the Komolac Municipality, the Dubrovnik Fire-fighters, the Dubrovnik Fire-fighting Society and the natives of Šumet and sponsored by the Dubrovnik ACI Marina. The tidying up of this area of Šumet will enable the walks in this beautiful but insufficiently known part of the Rijeka Dubrovačka. Situated in the close vicinity of the Marina the walking path will be an additional attraction and recreational spot for the Komolac ACI Marina guests.
On the occasion of marking the Planet Earth Day, 22 April, the City of Dubrovnik, the Dubrovnik Tourist Board and the Pile-Kono Municipality - together with numerous producers of seedlings and flowers - will organise a Flower Fair and sale at promotional prices at the Pile Park on Saturday, 18th April. The fair will include the flower arranging and gardening workshops in collaboration with the Dubrovnik flower shops and landscape architects.
The main event on the occasion of marking the Planet Earth Day will be the cleaning and tidying up the Island of Lokrum taking place on Friday, 24 April. The action will be organized under the patronage of the City of Dubrovnik, and the participants will include the Dubrovnik Fire-fighters, the Dubrovnik Diving Club and the Dubrovnik elementary school and kindergarten children. On this occasion an eco-class in the nature will be organized for the children, who will have the opportunity to get acquainted with natural beauties of the Island of Lokrum.
