British Council’s Festival of Science to open in Zagreb

18 April 2009

Description:

The seventh Festival of Science organized by the British Council will open on 20 April at Zagreb's Technical Museum.
This year, the Festival is dedicated to topics relating to two great scientists, Charles Darwin and Galileo Galilei.
In the honour of the 200th anniversary of Darwin's birth and the 150th anniversary of his book "On the Origin of Species," the main topic of the festival will be evolution.
Visitors will be able to discuss with scientists the origin of life and species and how much we know about them. One of those scientists is Professor Steve Jones, who will hold two lectures on the topic "Is the evolution of man really over?" on 20 April in Zagreb and on 21 April in Rijeka.
Students at medical schools in Zagreb, Osijek and Split will be able to hear Jones' lectures through video-conferencing.
There will also be an exhibition by the British Council called "Darwin Today" at the Technical Museum.
The festival will run through 25 April.
