A week of celebrations will start today (Tues) in Croatia to mark historic dates for the European Union.The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration traditionally organizes the celebration of European week that will be held from 28 April to 9 May.
The European week was initiated in order to celebrate important dates in the history of European integration: 5 May 1949, the establishment of the Council of Europe, and 9 May 1950, the day the Schuman declaration was signed and which is now celebrated as Europe day.
The week will be celebrated with numerous events and activities, lectures and discussions, quizzes and competitions in Croatian cities. Also every city host will have special information points with educational and information materials.
In cooperation with the Delegation of the European Commission to the Republic of Croatia also the 'EU bus Croatia' will tour the country.
The 'EU bus' that should promote the EU and its ideas will visit Supetar, Knin, Opatija, Krapina, Karlovac, Cakovec, Koprivnica, Virovitica, Vinkovci and Zagreb.
The central ceremonial will be held on 9 May on Zagreb 'Cvjetni trg' square.
