Description:
Croatian researchers have found the wreckage of a ship more than 2,000 years old.The ship was discovered at the bottom of the sea in Caska Bay near Pag Island in the northern Adriatic - in the same area where ancient drowned city Kissa is located.
A research team from the town of Novalja and Zadar University led by Professor Zdenko Brusic made the discovery. A group of experts from the French National Center for Scientific Research helped the Croats in their work.
Researchers from Zadar University said the ship had been used by the Liburnians, an ancient people inhabiting the district called Liburnia on the coast of the northeastern Adriatic.
The ship, which was buried two metres deep in mud on the bottom of the sea, is well preserved. Further analysis is expected to determine its exact age.
