Dubrovnik Fashion Week to be held from 1st to 5th of July 2009

We have chatted with Daria Mikulandra, part of the organisation team of Dubrovnik Fashion week, which has offices in Dubrovnik and in London.
Dubrovnik Fashion Week Inernational is an interesting manifestation to be held in Dubrovnik from 1st to 5th of July this year. Dubrovnik Fashion Week is aiming to become one of the leading events of this kind on the Adriatic and further.

What is this event all about?

We are proud to present Dubrovnik with an international fashion event. We hope it will establish firmly in the city's annual calendar of events and also in the international fashion calendar. This mix of fashion, entertainment and art is new and unique for Croatia. It will showcase work of innovative and exciting designers from Croatia, and also interesting emerging designer talents and progressive artists in Europe.

Where will the event be held? 

A spectacular purpose-built catwalk will be set on the main street Stradun, within the historic walls of the Dubrovnik Old Town. This is an open air event, set among perfectly preserved Renaissance and Baroque churches, palaces and fountains. Main are will be opened to wider public in early evenings of each day of the event. This is a unique oportunity to show world class event to all the guests of Dubrovnik.

Who are some of the names featured on this years event?

Some of the artists that will attend this years event are: Diane Pernet, Asvoff, Patrizia Dona, Bogomir Doringer, jewlery and small object producer Tomislav Zidar as well as some sound names in fashion: Mastori/Motwary Studio, Mattijs von Bergen and Maryam Kordbachen

What else are you preparing for this years event?

We are still in negotiations with some artists and fashion studios. The final program is yet to be determined but you can expect alot of side events, fashion parties, press conferences etc.
Our main aim is to strenghten the relationship between young and well established fashion designers from Croatian and wider region and for this event to be recognized in the global fashion world. You can also check our website www.dubrovnikfashionweek.com for further updates on this event.
