The first direct charter flight from Osaka, Japan landed at Zagreb airport last week.Around 350 Japanese tourists and crew members are planning to explore Zagreb and visit other sites, such as Plitvice Lakes National park and Dubrovnik.
The Japanese will spend a week in Croatia and then return to Japan from Dubrovnik airport.
The flight was arranged by Hankyu agency in Japan, which has announced the arrival of another charter on 18 June. The agency is also planning additional charters later in the summer season.
The number of Japanese tourists has increased in the last few years.
Their number increased by 66 per cent to 144,000 last year compared to 2007. They accounted for 202,000 overnights or 54 per cent more than in 2007.
