Description:
An Austrian tourist has warned of a Great White shark prowling the Adriatic. The Austria tabloid "Österreich" reported two days ago that Austrian angler claimed the six metres long killer shark had followed his boat as he fished in the Kornati Islands off the coast of Croatia.
Although a rare phenomenon in the Adriatic Sea, it is considered that the number of shark sightings increased, when the number of large cruise ships visiting Croatian ports increased.
The paper quoted the angler who said: : "It's no joke. There will probably be an attempt to keep the news secret to avoid alarming tourists, but a great white shark is out there."
A 43-year-old Slovene diver was attacked by a Great White last October near Vis Island off the Croatian coast after he attached a bleeding fish to his belt during his dive.
The Austrian newspaper claims that there have been five fatal attacks by great white sharks in the Adriatic Sea in the last 70 years.
