Description:
Jat Airways resumed seasonal flights between Belgrade and Dubrovnik starting on July 2, following an interval of 18 years. The first flight landed on Wednesday at Dubrovnik airport with 70 passengers aboard it.
Croatian national television (HRT) has reported 800 reservations for the new service have already been made. A round-trip ticket costs 150 Euros.
Dubrovnik airport deputy director Frano Luetic said JAT has a licence for only two landings, the second of which is scheduled for 6 July.
The airline will obtain a permanent license after Croatia and Serbia sign a bilateral agreement on international air-traffic standards.
JAT, as it was known then, began international flights from Dubrovnik on June 2, 1956, while the first trans-Atlantic flight from Dubrovnik was to Toronto in 1983.
The Belgrade-Dubrovnik line was suspended on August 6, 1991 because of the war.
