More than 2,000 people danced the traditional folk dance "kolo" (circle dance) on Saturday in order to enter the Guinness Book of Records.The dance took place at the 43rd "Djakovacki vezovi" folklore festival in Djakovo in eastern Croatia.
The kolo features people holding each other by the hand or around the waist dancing in a circle.
Dancers from Switzerland, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia and Serbia also participated in the kolo, the daily Vecernji list has reported.
The festival was founded in 1967 on the occasion of the international year of tourism and has become one of the largest festivals of its kind in Croatia. The organizers of the event are the town government and the tourist board of Djakovo.
