Jet2.com to fly Belfast to Croatia

Budget Airline Jet2.com has announced that it is to start flying from Belfast to Croatia.

The airline said routes from Belfast International to Dubrovnik in Croatia and also the Cornish surfing capital of Newquay will create 50 jobs.

Jet2.com said the Barcelona service was being dropped at the end of the month due to competition on the route.

Customers who have booked flights to Barcelona in 2009 will get refunds or a free-of-charge destination change.

Jet2.com boss Philip Meeson said: "These are exciting times for us and, unlike other airlines which are grounding planes due to hard times, we are expanding our range of destinations and are planning to increase our overall capacity from Northern Ireland."
