Astro-park and observatory to open in Makarska

A new astronomical observatory will open in Makarska on 25 July.
The idea for the first observatory in the city came from astronomical association DAUP Orion three years ago.
Since it did not have its own site, Orion built an observatory with a five-meter-high dome and a modern telescope on the site of a monument in ruins.
Orion also created a real astro-park on the site, the first in Croatia.
At this coming Saturday's ceremonial observatory opening, Orion will celebrate its tenth anniversary.
Makarska and Orion want to make their astro-park unique not just in Croatia but also in the rest of Europe.
