Croatian construction company TriGranit Zagreb has signed an agreement with a consortium of six international banks on construction of a new shopping centre - Arena Zagreb.TriGranit Zagreb is a subsidiary of TriGranit Development Corporation - one of the largest property developers in Europe.
The agreement, signed this week, provides for loans of 150 million Euros to the construction company. The centre will cost a total of 224 million Euros.
It will be the biggest investment in region since the crisis began, the newspaper Večernji list has reported.
The centre's opening is planned for the end of 2010.
The complex will cover an area of 175,000 square metres and have 3,000 employees. Construction of the centre will provide jobs for 2,500 workers.
TriGranit Company claims Arena Zagreb will be one of the largest and most-technologically advanced shopping-entertainment centres in the region.
The centre will have more than 200 shops, a market, restaurants, and multiplex cinemas.
Arena Zagreb will also be the first shopping centre in Croatia totally adapted to the needs of people with special needs, particularly the blind.
