Croatia is cancelling Pelješac bridge

Despite the crisis, budget cuts, reducing salaries and pensions, the Cabinet has avoided cuts to the construction of the bridge to Peljesac.
However, the Croatian premier Jadranka Kosor, after talks with the social partners about the 3 percent crisis tax and increasing the GST to 23 percent, mentioned the bridge to Peljesac. According to the Croatian state television HRT, the Cabinet has finally given up on that project as well,and the works on the bridge are postponed until 2014.
The main construction companies for the bridge to Peljesac are IGH and Konstruktor, and the same companies are co-owners of companies which have been buying land from the locals for years. However, this business partner claims that the highway does not pass through that area.
