Description:
The Croatian Economy Ministry confirmed this week the government would not limit shops' opening hours. The decision comes in the wake of the Croatian Constitutional Court's recent unanimous ruling that the law banning Sunday shopping was unconstitutional.
It means all shops in Croatia can be open 24 hours a day if their owners want them to be.
But the owners will be obligated to respect workers rights, such as one day a week off, daily breaks and extra pay for working on Sunday and holidays.
The Ministry said it would conduct more inspections to ensure businesses respected workers' rights.
On the other hand, some sceptics have claimed many there are so many shops in Croatia it will be impossible to inspect all of them.
