Description:
Ninety per cent of tourists arrive in Croatia by car or bus and only 10 per cent by air or sea, according to official data for 2009.Those numbers are not at all encouraging for Croatian airports.
Because of that, Tourism Minister Damir Bajs has announced his ministry is planning to take special measures to help Dubrovnik airport.
The minister said there had been a five-per-cent drop in tourist arrivals and a three-per-cent drop in overnight stays during the first seven months in 2009, which had been much better than many early predictions and much better than the situation in many other Mediterranean countries.
Bajs said he was certain the good numbers were the result of special promotion activities in the tourism industry.
