Description:
The first free bicycle-repair workshop with volunteer mechanics will open today at Frankopanska 1 in the centre of Zagreb. The workshop has been organised by Green Action Croatia as a unique bicycle service that will enable people to repair their bicycles free of charge.
Cyclists will be able to use workshops' tools and get help from experienced volunteers, but the workshop's aim is to have cyclists learn to repair bicycles on their own.
The workshop, named Biciklopopravljaona or Bicycle Repair, will be open from 10am until 4pm Monday through Friday.
A volunteer mechanic will be available to help cyclists on Wednesdays from 5pm to 8pm.
Tomorrow's ceremonial opening will feature documentaries about cycling, including "Cycling Friendly Cities" by Enrique Peñalosa, a former mayor of Bogota, Colombia.
Peñalosa is working as a consultant on urban design and strategy and holds conferences around the world on how to make cities better and more liveable.
There will also be held a special photo exhibition by Contraction, a non-governmental cultural association in Zagreb.
