National Park recognized as a European Destination of Excellence

Northern Velebit National Park in the northwestern part of Croatia received European Destination of Excellence recognition on 8 October in Brussels.
The competition was organised under the aegis of the European Commission's European Destinations of Excellence (EDEN) programme.
European Destinations of Excellence is a project promoting sustainable tourism development models across the European Union. Through the selection of destinations, EDEN effectively achieves the objective of drawing attention to the values, diversity and common features of European tourist destinations. The key feature of the selected destinations is their commitment to social, cultural and environmental sustainability.
This year theme was "Tourism and Protected Areas."
