Powerboat P1 management have confirmed that Split, in central Dalmatia, Croatia will host the opening rounds of the 2010 World Championships and Croatias participation in the event was yesterday promoted at the WTM (World Travel Market) being held at Excel in London.The Powerboat P1 Chairman and CEO Asif Rangoonwala said he was looking forward to the event and predicted that it would be 'one of the greatest-ever races staged by Powerboat P1 and an outstanding start to next year’s series.' He added: 'I’m thrilled to bring Powerboat P1 to a new market that meets our demanding venue selection criteria and expands our footprint beyond its central European base.'
Indeed, the "Croatian Grand Prix of the Sea" as it is known is expecting more than 20,000 visitors according to
Croatian P1 promoter and AM Media company head Tomislav Misetic. The race's motto is "Be there!" and he called on investors to support the event.This first Powerboat P1’s Croatian Grand Prix will run along side the 12th Croatian Boat Show, considered as one of the best organised and most glamorous events on the international boat show calendar.
According to Powerboat World.com, Rangoonwala is particularly excited at the prospect of a festival for the marine industry. He said: 'This is the first time we have ever staged a race alongside an international boat show, so it’s going to be a huge celebration for the marine industry.
The Croatian Minister for Tourism who was also at the WTM and took part in the Powerboat P1 promotion said that he was glad the event would be held before the summer tourism season. The opening round of the world championship pwerboat race starts on the 1th April 2010 and goes on until the 19th April.
