Description:
According to Croatian daily newspaper, Slobodna Dalmacija, a retired seamstress has been ordered to pay 27 million Kuna (3.7 million Euros) by a New York Federal court. The seamstress, Sonja Anticevic from Omis just south of Split in Croatia, has been convicted of share fraud after having reportedly earned more than one million Euros on Reebok shares in 2005 after receiving insider information. She has so far refused to comment on the situation and has denied all knowledge of the insider trading which may possibly have been a result of information or money swapping via a relative living in the USA.
According to American website complianceweek.com, $130,000 worth of speculative, Reebok call options were originally purchased in an account in her name. Complianceweek.com says it was alleged that the Reebok options in question had been quickly sold off at a profit of over $2 million when it was announced that Reebok would be acquired by Adidas.
