Description:
Yesterday, Croatian Prime Minister Jadranka Kosor opened Split’s new maternity hospital.
Construction originally started in 2006 and ended over a year ago, but the opening was delayed because of bureaucracy, political disputes and a controversy about licences.
The new maternity hospital cost 37 million Euros and is four times larger than the old one. It has seven floors and an area of 14,000 square metres and features five surgeries and eight wards for child bearing, neonatology and daily hospital care.
It also has 78 patient rooms, each with a bathroom, TV and internet access.
At the opening ceremony, Split Mayor Zeljko Kerum promised to increase the money given to newly-born babies in Split from 1,500 kunas (206 Euros) to 2,000 kunas (275 Euros). C.T.
