Hvar - Sailing into the New Year in style!

 

Hvar saw the New Year in, in style with a huge sailing regatta!The traditional, 33rd New Year International Regatta organized by JK Zvir from Hvar, gathered together 342 sailors from as many as 21 countries!

The first competition of the eight races completed yesterday, and the winner was the Italian Jacopo Fanti. Today's race was held in the port where Fanti was the best again, and so once again confirmed his expertise.

 

There was also a laser class sailing regatta which counted towards the European Cup for 2009. In four days their competitors also set sail in eight races. The Standard class winner was Russian Sergei Komissarov, and in the Radial class, the best was Nenad Bugarin (JD Val, Crikvenica).

 

Croatian bred sailors were successful in Class 4.7, the winner was Ante Munjiza (JK Trogir), and in second place was Dino Sindik (JK Split).

 

The three-day Hvar Match Race 2009 attracted eight crew's from Croatia and Slovenia, sailing with the Benetau First 7.5 sailboats. The winner was Tonko Ramesa from Murter, in the women's competition is the first crew was Tihana Tadinac from Split.
