Description:
European airline companies confirmed the schedule of their departing and incoming flights to Split during the 2010, and the total number of flights shows the increase of 9% when compared to the previous year. Except for numerous cities in Western Europe, Split will have direct connection with three more Scandinavian cities. Some of the new destinations that can be directly reached from Split include popular European holiday destinations as are Paris, Rim, London, Lille, and Manchester.According to information given at Split Airport, total number of 33 airline companies will operate in Split, resulting in total number of 1.53 million of seats sold during the 2010. Moreover, travelers will have the option of reaching Split on daily basis by some of charter planes departing from 28 cities in 12 European countries.
Croatia Airlines, largest Croatian airline company, increased the number of flights to Split for 7%. Foreign companies that raised the total numbers of flights include some of the largest European airline companies - EasyJet, Germanwings, SAS, and Norwegian Air Shuttle which announced outstanding increase of 80% in number of flights.
Increase in number of visitors, except for the Split Airport, is the first sign of successful upcoming tourism season in the whole Dalmatia, as Split Airport is the main and largest one in the region. Considering the fact that airline companies never add new flights unless there is demand large enough to fill the capacity, these increases in number of flights and openings of new airline destinations are the confirmation of that claim.
