Croatia is still one of the most famous holiday destinations among the German tourists. But also Croatia is satisfied with their German visitors. While the international tourists were slightly decreasing around one percent, in the last year the percentage of Germans was increasing by two percent what resulted in a plus of four percent in overnight stays for whole Croatia.
The director of tourism Zlatko Dezeljin said that especially the improvements of the quality in the hotels were a reason for the rise. Just in 2009 Croatia made high investments in four and five star hotels but also the improvements of arrival possibilities like cheap airlines or the expansion of the highways contributed to a good tourism year. But also Dezeljin stated that more and more individual travelers are coming to Croatia due to the new and good developed road system. That is why the numbers for the tour operators in 2009 were very different.
Through good and effective marketing strategies Croatia could establish its place among German tourists. 2 million Euros are invested in advertising, TV and internet but also presenters of Croatia are active on trade shows, road shows, B2B workshops and “Buy Croatia” workshops. Moreover around 300 travel agents will travel to Croatia in order to get a picture and to close overview of friendliness of the people and the beauty of the country.Anita Kaiser
