Description:
Recent studies of World Economic Forum place Croatia on 34th place on the global tourism market. The study is made every two years and Croatia climbed 5 places since 2007. But, is Croatia really competitive? How is our competition doing?
The first interesting information is that first three places are taken by Switzerland, Austria and Germany – countries without any sea. How can we learn from that and why is this important?
The experts from World Economic Forum suggest that Croatia got positive grades for: safety in the country, ease of visa regime, representativeness of car rental companies and credit card acceptance. Negative things are: uneducated workforce, tourism investments, getting around (mostly airlines), and high prices for services.
Is there something we should be worried about? There certainly is. Small neighboring country Slovenia, which has much lower tourism potential jumped 9 places in the last two years and is now right behind Croatia, on the 35th place. Slovenia's natural resources can not be compared to Croatia's. Potential that Croatia has is enormous and Croatia needs to start making serious plans for the future if we want to stay competitive!
