Description:
Many merchants are confused about the new law banning Sunday shopping that entered into force on 1 January. Many of them are unsure whether they can open their shops on Sundays. At Zagreb's "Tresnjevka" open-air market, for example, only shops facing the inside of the market are allowed to open on Sundays. And at Zagreb's "Dolac" market, only shops in the indoor part of the market are allowed to open on Sundays. Most shops in hotels are allowed to open on Sundays, but the Mercator store in a hotel in Korenica is not allowed to. Some shops near the Zagreb railway and bus station can open, but others cannot. Numerous shopping malls, markets and supermarkets have asked for clarification of the law by the Economy Ministry.
