Description:
The European Union is planning to employ around 350 Croats. The European Personnel Selection Office (EPSO) has announced an open competition for jobs in EU offices. Male and female Croats who speak Croatian and either English, French or German are eligible for employment by the Union. Those who apply must pass an examination in the foreign language they claim to speak. The EU jobs will include positions such as secretaries, administrative assistants, technicians, translators, interpreters and consultants. Those employed will receive three-year, renewable contracts. It is expected the EU will hire additional Croats after Croatia becomes an EU member state, which could occur as early as the end of 2009.
