Varazdin to acquire an office for renewable energy

Varazdin will be the first Croatian city to have a centre of excellence for renewable energy. Trade and Investment Promotion Agency head Slobodan Mikac said  on 29.01.2009. that the project's goals were introduction of order in the use of renewable energy and rational disbursement of EU funding and subsidies. Mikac said: "Renewable energy is the future, and this century will certainly be the century of energy. Dependence on foreign gas and oil it cannot be good for the economy."Varazdin Mayor, Ivan Cehok, said the number of energy- generating products would increase after Croatia became an EU member and every renewable energy source was extremely important. The centre, which should be in operation by the end of 2009, is also intended to help ensure Varazdin will regularly implement new ideas in the renewable-energy area.
