Description:
A quaint Istrian restaurant has been commended by a respected food journalist as one of the best eating establishments in Croatia.Writing for the New York Times, Kabir Chipper singled out Motovun's Mondo Konoba restaurant for praise based on its breathtaking blend of stunning scenery and local delicacies.
Specifically, the regionally-sourced beef carpaccio served with truffles was highlighted by the critic as one of this hidden gem's most exquisite dishes.
Mr Kabir wrote in the newspaper: "Mondo Konoba sits on a slope just outside the large gate to the beautiful medieval village of Motovun, which is on a hilltop deep in the Croatian countryside.
"It's beautiful, cheap and largely free of the hordes of tourists that spoil so many postcard-worthy views in Italy."
Main courses at Mondo Konoba vary between about 65 and 140 kuna (£8.00 - £17.00), while the restaurant doubles up as a tavern for those to full to make the trek back.
