Dubrovnik acquires its first public parking garage

Dubrovnik has its first public carpark.
The carpark has four floors and room for 711 cars over an area of 19,000 square metres. The carpark cost around 18 million Euros.
The carpark building includes the "Marin Drzic" primary school and a sports hall that should be open within a month.
Croatian MP Luka Bebic presided over the opening ceremony on 02.02.2009. Dubrovnik Mayor Dubravka Suica said the carpark would help resolve traffic problems in the city, especially during the tourist season.
The contract for the building was signed in 2005, but it proved impossible to finish construction within the scheduled 18 months.
