In the center of ÄŒakovec in the historic cellar of the Millenium Business Center is the Katarina Restaurant. Dražen Jambriško, who is an established restauranteur, dedicated this restaurant to the noble Katarina, who supervised the kitchens of Nikola Zrinski and Frana Krsta Frankopan. His wish was that his restaurant Katarina also becomes important to residents of the MeÄ‘imurje region.The ideas of love and faithfulness to manliness and courage are reflected in the design of the interior and the selection of dishes of this original restaurant. The interior is decorated with the crests of all of the families that once resided in MeÄ‘imurje, and the atmosphere is enhanced with sabers and curtained partitions. The restaurant offers MeÄ‘imurje cooking, Viennese and hunter's specialities, and wood-grill specialties from the various parts of Croatia.
Some of the specialties include: bakina tava, flambe of saber fish "Zrinski", hunter's roulade, beefsteak a la "Hussar", and carp in the Međimurje manner. In December, the restaurant holds a celebration known as the "Hunter's Cooking Days," during which the menu contains various wild game pates, ragout of pheasant, quail soup, venison steak in date sauce and cranberries, or even stuffed quail, pancakes with wild berries, etc.
The rich menu can also be accompanied by wines from all parts of Croatia.
